Development Application Submitted for 37 King Street
A development application has been submitted to the Town of Halton Hills for 37 King Street in Georgetown. The application, submitted by Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin, proposes a residential development that would include 12 residential units. The proposed units would be a mix of market and affordable housing.
About the Site
The property at 37 King Street is located on the site of the former Exchange Hotel, also known locally as the Station House. Originally built in the mid-1800s, the building was a well-known landmark situated across from the Georgetown railway station. Over the years, the Exchange Hotel served many roles, including as a hotel, restaurant, and home to several businesses. The building has since been demolished, but the site remains a familiar location within Georgetown's GO Station area.
The Development Review Process
As with all development applications submitted to the Town, this application includes a number of supporting technical studies. These documents are reviewed by Town staff and circulated to relevant external agencies, which may include the Region of Halton, Credit Valley Conservation, and others as appropriate. Through this process, Town staff may request revisions or additional information from the applicant to ensure the proposal complies with applicable policies and technical requirements.
Following the review, Town staff will prepare a report with recommendations for Town Council’s consideration.
